RE-ENTRY UPDATE
On Tuesday, Pastor Steve hit Facebook Live with some updates on where we’re at with our re-entry process. If you didn’t catch it, you can check it out here.
The long and short of it is this:
-We all miss each other and worshipping in the same space.
-We are excited to enter back into our building!
-We are eagerly putting all the necessary plans in place to safely re-enter.
-Dates are being considered and discussed but have not been finalized.
It’s been tough deciding exactly when our first in-person worship experience will be!
If you are wondering why we would wait, here’s the reasoning…
Our Mission
We are passionate about helping people become who God purposed them to be.
Our highest priority is reaching people for Jesus and helping them grow. Those inside the church are already on a growth track, and though it can be more challenging to maintain that apart from the church family, we can sustain our growth through our already established relationships and online connections for a short while longer.
Imagine being a first time guest during this season—rsvp’ing, signing a disclaimer, masks, distanced seating, one way foot traffic, no congregating for conversation in the lobby—it actually sounds like a pretty lousy experience, which doesn’t inspire much confidence in our church’s mission—it’s cold and detached. The closer we can get to a more welcoming experience before re-entry, the better.
We also understand that, sadly, many who are unchurched and far from God hold a skeptical view of the Church, which may only be worsened by a hasty re-entry. By taking our time to ensure all safety protocols are air-tight, we build trust in the surrounding community.
Though some of these elements may continue to be part of our reality for months to come, recommendations are ever changing and we are hopeful that between the quickly shifting guidelines and our creative drive, we can work toward a warmer atmosphere for people to enter into.
Love, Respect, and Safety
Many people in our congregation are more vulnerable to illness. There are people in our congregation who have COVID right now. There are people in our congregation who have already lost loved ones due to this virus.
It’s out of a place of love and respect for a growing number of those at high risk and those already directly affected, that we have chosen not to re-enter just yet. Love is patient, love is kind. Though we know that those who are at high risk can choose to stay safely indoors after opening, we are also trying to be sensitive to the call from the community to slow the spread. If there is a surge in churches re-entering their worship spaces at the same time, there may be a surge in the spread as well. We’re just doing our part to move gradually into social gatherings.
A Vision
It’s our vision that we move forward by staying together and worshipping together as a church--one body, 3 identical services, offered on campus or online—but TOGETHER.
Staff have been working tirelessly on volunteer training and new equipment that will allow us to livestream a full worship service, from start to finish, while a percentage of us are able to safely worship in the building. Our current format of recording and broadcasting doesn’t allow for that, as we have segments that are pre-recorded by necessity. When our set up and volunteer training can offer the same experience at home, as in-person, we can feel good about opening together.
Practical Limitations
Plainly and simply, we still need to wait for the Fed-Ex truck to pull up and drop off all the tools and supplies needed to make this happen.
We’ve got new equipment and sanitation needs. Thousands of other businesses and churches across the nation are ordering the same exact materials. It’ll just take time for all the pieces to fall into place, but rest assured, staff are working as fast as they can. We have a solid plan in place, we just need the tools to make it happen.
Finally, training is required. Volunteers are coming back to a new way of work. New patterns, new guidelines, new technology. We’ve got to get everyone trained and ready—another measure that just takes some time.
We hope to announce our building's opening much sooner than later, and we’re anticipating Northgate's doors opening sometime this summer.
The outpouring of support, patience, and understanding on this decision has been overwhelming. The pastors and leadership team thank you for your love and positivity during a challenging season.
As always, if there is a way we can return the favor by helping to meet a need or pray for you , please let us know.
