7 Festive Surprises at Northgate This Christmas!
We don’t usually like to peel back the curtain on our big holiday celebrations, choosing instead to leave all the little surprises for the “big day.” But this Christmas, we simply can’t contain our excitement, so we’re sharing some of the special plans in advance.
But it would be negligent not to mention why we do all this.
The fact is that the splendor of the Christmas season gives us leverage into secular circles to share the amazing news of Jesus.
Christmas appears to be the best time to invite someone to church, according to a study by Lifeway Research.
In a poll of 1,000 Americans, they found about half of them typically attend church at Christmastime.
But among those who don’t attend church at Christmastime, a majority, almost 60%, say they would likely attend if someone they knew invited them!
“Regular churchgoers may assume the rest of America has already made up their mind not to attend church,” said Scott McConnell, vice president of Lifeway Research. “In reality, many would welcome going to a Christmas service with someone they know."
So, why do we bust out a photobooth, have gifts for kids, bring in the full band, put up extra lights, spring for special treats, and take extra care with the message?
Because we’re creating an atmosphere where someone, whose usual barriers have come down, can connect with Jesus. And we’re counting on you to make the invitation.
The timing has never been better!
