Hi! I’m Gwen!
I live in Ramsey, MN. I am going into my senior year of High School and I work at a Pizza Ranch. I love to write and make music, play soccer, and help out at church as much as I can. I have two loving parents, Tony and Trudy. I have two brothers, a sister, 3 nephews and 1 niece.
Fun fact: I’m adopted! One of my brothers is adopted as well.
What are a few of your favorite things?
I really, really
love anything musical. Worship music, especially! My favorite tv show is Criminal Minds and my favorite movie is The War Room. My favorite place to vacation is the Colorado Mountains.
How did you first hear about Northgate and how long have you been here?
My father had a friend who told him about Northgate when it was just starting--we instantly fell in love with the church and the people, so we’ve been here for ten years.
How do you serve at Northgate?
I’m on the all the Worship teams—the band on the weekend, choir, and the worship teams for Kidnection & Due North.
Why has it been important for you to serve at church?
I always say church is my second home. If I could stay at church all the time, I totally would! As a follower of Jesus, I am called to love God and love my neighbor. If I can do that through serving, then I’m going to serve.
How has being on the team had an impact on you?
I found my love for worship at Northgate! I even plan to major in worship leading after high school. My leaders and teammates have always encouraged me in developing my faith and my skills. I have learned that it’s okay to be vulnerable to the Lord, something I’ve always struggled with. Through serving, I have made friendships that I will cherish forever.
Share a cool experience from being on the worship team.
Every worship experience is so special. One thing I love is that when we are getting ready to practice for worship, or sometimes even in the middle of a lull during practice, someone will start to play or sing a random song and everyone else will jump in so it just turns into one big impromptu jam session! It’s so fun!
What has been the biggest surprise about serving?
Everyone is so welcoming, in a way that goes beyond being greeted nicely when you arrive. I feel a sense of belonging and I’m encouraged to share my ideas, ask questions, or just talk and hang out. It’s truly one big family.
If someone were thinking about serving on your team, what advice would you give them?
Your team is your family—this church is a family. As soon as you get to know one person, everyone is soon going to be your friend! When you join a team, you feel loved, worthy, and understood. It’s a friendship that lasts for a lifetime. So, come worship with us!
